Welcome to the Beach House B&B Hermanus

Southern Right Whales visit Hermanus annually between the months of July and December, coming within metres of the shoreline.

The famous cliff paths of Hermanus meander along the coastline of the village and offer an ideal spot from which to view these gentle giants of the ocean. The Fernkloof Nature Reserve is a unique mountain conservancy where visitors can experience our world renowned fynbos floral kingdom.

Hermanus is a nature lovers paradise and offers excellent bird watching and hiking trails. Outdoor adventure activities include – Great White Shark cage diving at nearby Gansbaai, boat based whale watching, paragliding, sailing, scuba diving, golf, fishing and horse riding. Hermanus is also well known for its lovely sandy beaches and its top class wine estates.

Eating out in Hermanus

We will gladly recommend restaurants and make bookings on your behalf at the Beach House reception.

Festivals and events:   

There are numerous festivals happening throughout the year and these events always attract hordes of visitors so if you enjoy a bit of festivity take note of the events listed below. The dates vary year to year so check with the Tourism Bureau on +27 (0) 28 312 2629

Markets:

  • Farmers Market – on Saturdays at the Cricket Field 08h00 to 12h30 – Home grown vegetables, cheeses, breads, jams etc. Great fun to have breakfast there while listening to a Marimba band.
  • Market Square – Central Hermanus 09h00 to 14h00 – crafts, gemstones, clothing, african art etc.
  • Hemel-en-Aarde Village – (08h00 to 14h00) – cheeses, olives, wine, oils, vegetables and more
  • Onrus Market – First saturday of every month – homemade products.

The Hermanus / Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Wine Route:

Tucked into the folds of the mountains on the outskirts of Hermanus lies the picturesque Hemel-en-Aarde Valley where wine lovers can treat themselves to a unique wine tour among some of the southernmost vineyards in Africa. Visit some of these wine farms and enjoy the tastings:
